why am i getting play in my curado 201e7?

Featured Replies

just got a new curado and compared it to my two year old one. noticed in my old one im getting a lot of play a 1/8th of an inch or so out of it. i know it has the anti reverse ball bearing and the super stop. but i can put a lot of back pressure on it and slam it backwards?

is it wear and use? or something witch a bearing perhaps?

Had the same issue one time with a curado and it was caused by excessive oil in the clutch bearing. Solve it by disassembling and soaking/rinse the clutch bearing with white gas or kerosin or paint thinner. wipe off excess cleaning agent and drop 3 to 4 drops of Corrosion X on the bearing and a drop on the Clutch inner tube.

sounds a lil complicated haha

Just send it to shimano service center. They don't charge a fee for this kind of issue. It'll only cost you shipping going to them.

Ya it sounds like the AR clutch needs cleaning. If the reel is two years old and never been apart it would probably benefit from a full service ($16.20 for forum members) which includes servicing the AR.
