Looking for info, anything you can add.

Need something that is around 8' 6" +/- a few ins. that will retract to 7' or under.

This will be a Salmon/trout rod.

What part of those rods retract, the blank, handle or both?

I currently have a couple 8'6" 2 pcs. rods. Are the tele rods worth buying or better than a 2pcs?.

where it telecopes depends greatly on the manufacturer, some retract at the butt end, others are nothing more than a fancy name for a two piece rod where the longest section is most of the blank and the shortest part is a piece of blank, the reel seat and the handle. Two piece or multipiece is normally associated to a rod of X length where all the sections are about the same length.

Telescpotic?

I think it would effect the sensitivity, and maybe the balance.
