I looked around for one that would fit my needs, I couldn't find one though so I rigged one up myself. The SUV is a Mazda Tribute (cousin to Esacape/Mariner). I used household items you can find at retail stores.

2 - 35" Flat bungees

Jagged soft foam, for gun cases

Zip ties

Double sided Velcro

A driveway reflector pole 36" or so (broke off the reflector)

I cut the foam to the width of the backseat hand grips and to about 6" wide. Then punctured the bungees through the ends of the foam and hooked them to the hand grips. Also zip tied the foam to the bungees in various places to prevent it getting pushed off.

Toward the back, it was easier since there's 3 hold downs bolted to the roof. I used the rod from the reflector to zip tie various sized velco on (10 pieces) to hold the rods. Then zip tied the reflector rod to the 3 hold downs. And that's it.

Things to note:

My longest rod is 6'9", I haven't tried a 7' but if I ever get one I'll try it out.

It's been 2 weeks and no problems  8-)

Well the bolts are factory, from what I heard they are tie downs for baby seats, more reinforcement

Rod Saver makes a commercial version of what you've rigged. If you are judicious about how you stack them you can carry 20-22 rods safely. I know because I generally carry that many.  I have reinforced the anchor points a little bit

I got mine from Rogers lures in Liberty, but I've seen them at BPS and for sure they are available from Rod Saver.

Man, that's awesome! I have a Tribute, as well, and have been trying to figure out how I want to do this. I just bought my first 7' rod, so I'll be interested to see if it will fit.

There was an old bassmaster article with a complete do it yourself instructions if someone wants to look it up.

Also Cabelas sells a few kits to facilitate this need.

BPS sells one that is almost exactly the same. I have one in my S-10 Blazer.

  I made my own from scratch too in my Ford Expedition.  I replaced the bungee/foam part you have with a rubber coated clothes hanger rack that goes between the dry cleaning hooks on the back seat door handles.  The rods are just resting on it, but the little ridges on it keep them from sliding around. 

  I like your setup in the back much better than mine... but I just use a length of rope tied between my to rear trunk tie points.  Whenever I want to put a rod in I just loop the rope around the handle of the rod one time.  On one side I have the rope folding back on itself with a slip knot tied.  That way I can take slack/tension out or into the rope depending on how many rods I have going in.  It's not fancy, but it was cheap... and it takes about 2min to put up or take down should the need arise.

I've been using two of those rubber-coated clothes rods in my Suburban. One way in the back, and one over the rear passenger doors. I use velcro wire ties around the rod grips to hold them in place.

Nice work. I made one for my Subaru Outback by drilling holes for the butts in a piece of wood and mounting it to some threaded holes that are in the roof in the back with a couple 8" lengths of all thread rod, but I just have a shoestring that goes across the backseat handles supporting the middle of the rods. I think I'll be replacing that with your bungee cord and egg crate foam contraption. Also, I'm not sure how the Tribute compares in interior length to my Outback, but mine will take 7'rods fine. I don't think I could go any longer though.

Going back to my original post, the offereings from manufacturers are somewhat slim. Some models only fit some SUVs mainly large suburbans, so I have to say if you don't do it yourself and want to buy the store kits make sure it'll fit! Check the reviews if possible
