I also catch and release bass, however, I have nothing against keeping a gut hooked or gill hooked fish, or one that doesn't make it out of the livewell! Bass are delicious!

You mean to tell me that you don't spit on your line before you take a picture of your reel!?!?!?!??! EVERY bass fisheman who takes pictures of his gear knows that the key to a good picture of your reel is to spit on it!!

I really like the idea of the skip gap hooks... Is there a disadvantage to use them all the time?

Don't panic... I do not believe you have a ruptured disc like one may have mentioned... Its possible but I would be much more concerned if you had any change in bowel/bladder, leg weakness, numbness/tingling, etc. Make an appointment with your primary care physician... from there he/she will take an X-ray, send you to physical therapy (my job), from there you either get better if it is muscular, or if PT fails, they will send you back to your doctor who will then order an MRI and send you to a spine specialist... Hopefully a PT can fix it.. if you have any specific questions feel free to PM me

I am sure you could probably get a Winch handle for on it.. Those are usually a bit longer. If you still dont like the feel, I know a guy who would be happy to take that uncomfortable reel off your hands! (ME!!!) Shimano sucks!

IMO sensitivity does not matter at all when you are trout fishing in a stream with a little 5' ultralight... If you are holding your line in one hand and holding the rod in the other the only thing between you and the fish is your line... All the sensitivity should come from that.. Put some 2-4# flouro and it doesn't get much more sensitive than that for trout

Just go to walnuts and buy the cheapest ultralight Shakespeare you can find and step it up a little and get a little bit better rod for bassin

Could you explain the ARB bearing pack? Is it better or worse compared to the shielded bearings that come standard?

Missing the shield won't effect you at all. It'll actually be easier for you to clean. The first revo I ever owned which was in 2009 came without shields in the bearing in the spool tension knob. All others have the shield

Rod should work well with both applications. I use that same rod throwing senkos with a 1/16 or 1/8 oz tungsten bullet weight..... Works awesome!

I still think the Carbonlites are Shimanos....

I never let mine lean.... Lay them down or put them in an rod rack... It makes me cring seeing rods bent along the wall especially above a heat source
