Power Plant Lake

Featured Replies

Hey guys I am going to try a power plant lake in NE TX this weekend and wanted to know what the spawn was like there.  I have been working alot lately and havnt been able to do alot of research on the spawning times of a warm water lake in this area.  I got a feelin that it is going to be over, so if anyone wants to jump in here and help me out fell free.  Thanks guys.

I assume you mean Monticello?  The cold side shouldn't be over yet.  We fished Fayette last weekend and caught pre and post spawn fish (on opposite sides of the lake).  Being much further North, I can't imagine you missed it up there.

Good luck

SInce there is so much interest in this thread  :-? I will share how our trip went.  Sat morning I have rigged up crwfsh rattle traps and cranks throw em till my arm hurts and catch one fish, small.  Get to the dock and a guy tells me "no no no, throw these." as he tosses me a watermelon flake trick work. "work em slow through the cattails, we caught 20 bass today."  So day two i try his way plus some small jigs brown and black plus slow rolling a spinner bait and I cought nothing.  What do yall think happened?

sounds like he was trying to keep you off the fish completely. at least he gave you a real lure though. I usually just tell people Im catching em on a bubblegum flavored worm when I try keep em off the bass.
