Ist Annual Br.com kansas angler meet

Featured Replies

I am not trying to hi-jack this thread or anything, but I just wanted to let all the Kansas boys know that if they would like to participate in the Bass Resource 2nd Annual Missouri Members Tournament that they are more than welcome. So for those of you who wouldn't mind making the drive to Little Dixie Lake on April 26th, you are invited. Anyone interested can just post in the MO Members thread or shoot me a PM. Thanks...OK I'll go now. :)

Putting me and fatmanslim on it guarantees it to be a party barge.  ;D Hope you get to feelin better, hoss! I had some head cold crap a few weeks ago that left me with a fever that I thought would put me in the hospital.

Now I'm gettin pumped, only a week away! Fish on! 8-)

Seriously?

Well I guess it's about 70 up here in Wichita, but it's blowing like 20-25mph winds.  ::) Weather.com shows 71 deg. in Pittsburg and shows rain/wet snow tomorrow night. Kansas...man I'll never understand it.

A suggestion ONLY!  The way the weather looks, the water is not going to warm up any this week.  It was 39 to 41 Saturday.  If we want to have a chance to catch any fish, I would suggest hitting one or some of the strip pits around here.  There is one good one (unit 8) that is less than five miles from Pittsburg that could handle up to 4 or 5 boats.  If there are going to be more people show up, there are several around West Mineral that are good fishing and could handle more boats.

I am in no way trying to hijack the organization of this get together.  I am merely suggesting alternative locations where we might have a CHANCE of catching a fish or two.  No matter where we go, with the exception of Coffee Co. or LaCygne, the odds of catching anything are going to be pretty slim.  And those lakes will be packed.

I'll go along with the thoughts of you all.

I'm not opposed to switching to the pits. Are you referring to the pit closest to the middle of unit 8? We tried fishing the south bank of that about a week ago (while it was iced over) with no luck but the water was a lot cooler and we were limited to one thawed spot on the bank. That pit has always been one of my most promising though. I'd say 5 boats would fit on it pretty comfortably...

It's kind of late for a change but I'm not opposed, it's not as far from Pitt as bone is either, seems like that's where most people are staying at.

http://www.kdwp.state.ks.us/news/content/download/1055/5053/file/MinedLndWA.pdf

is a brochure showing where the units are, for anyone not familiar with the area.

I'm guessing we're looking at 5ish boats showing up right now, I don't think we ever got an official head count.

What's everyone else thinkin?

BTW ring fry, I don't think we have any official organization  ;D

The only problem with switching now is at Bone Creek we have the ok from the Bone Creek contact at KDWP. As long as we follow the guidelines we don't need a bass pass. With time so short we may want to stay with Bone Creek And plan another event while there

True but are we even planning on holding the bass?

It really doesn't matter to me, like I said I dont like to call what I do "fishing", I like to call it "casting" so my day is always a win-win ;D

After looking at The Bone Creek report from Ring Fry and checking the weather channel forcast for the rest of the week(teens on Fri night).  I recommend we reschedule to a much later date Thus we may even get some more envolvement from the board and oppurtunity to get more organized. Right now as I see we only have three to 4 boats with 5-6 forum members involved.

:(MY THOUGHTS

Weaksauce. But it is starting to look crummy.

Well fatmanslim and I will be making a tour of the pits no matter what. What is everyone elses thoughts? Current forecast shows the high on Sat. to be 40 degrees  :)

DANG.... Ok if weather is going to be that cold then ya we should reschedule, the weather wasn't bothering me at all. Until last night down here in okmulgee we got couple of inches of snow

Well with the forecast I see for the Bone Creek area having a high of 37 not the best for fishing. Let us pick another weekend for the meet.

I was thinking possibly the 22 of March how does this work for everyone?

22nd works for me, I have a tournament in Texas the 29th.

I will probably be working the 22nd (I probably won't be available until April at the soonest). BUT THE SHOW MUST GO ON!  ;D

Let's try to plan another one of these in the Summer/Fall too  8-)
