Milford Fishing Trip

Featured Replies

I am planning on fishing at Milford Lake on Saturday. Any does or don'ts?

This will be our first experience in fishing for wipers. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

We will be fishing from a 16' Lund with a 35 Hp. motor. Hope this isn't too small.

Went down this past Sunday water temps in mid 40"s.

This lake can be rough on small boats when the wind blows. Just find a ramp close to the area you wish to fish and wear your PFD. :)

Thanks, Sounds like good advice. Any comments on a place to stay Friday night anyone?

I usually drive in from Topeka so I don't have first hand knowledge but there are some of the larger chain motels off of I-70 on the south side of Junction City

A 16' Lund should be alright, deep v's are a great choice when the wind blows :)  Wind is forecasted to lay low this weekend so if that holds you should be alright.  You can stay at cabins in the thunderbird area right on the lake, the state park may even have a few cabins now.  If not, choose from any of many chain hotels in Junction City.

haha, scratch that forecast, now they are saying 23mph winds on Saturday, anything over 20 and it gets ugly out there :-/

Thanks for the Heads Up. I think I will pass on getting out on the lake in that kind of wind, but I still want to go really bad. A guy can still have some fun fishing from shore, can't he?

Now today they are forecasting 16mph on Saturday, it is supposed to come right out of the south so the lower end of the lake should be fairly protected.  I'm not much of a shore angler but you could give it a try I suppose.  If your not too picky on what you catch try the tubes on the backside of the dam, may catch all sorts of different stuff this time of year.
