Fished it two days last week. Most fish were caught either way back under a dock or the brush piles out off the river channels. I was fishing up lake  above Ankorage Marina. If you are close to the river you are close to most of the fish.

thanks for the info fishfordollars. i fished there in front of the marina and caught 5 fish within 1 hr. i also drove to the otherside of the 1097 bridge and found some grass, fishing shakey head with brush hog and caught 9.0 lb bass. thats the biggest fish that i have ever caught.

I suggest you keep that info to yourself. As little grass left someone will get on it and it will not be a secret very long. Good job, glad I could help you out. I will have to check that area out before the carp eat it up. I have been fishing in the Dallas area all week so I will not be back until Sunday. I will be back on Conroe on Tuesday. Glad you got your new PB. Conroe can dish out some monster fish.

You can rest assured the grass or any other vegetation won't be there long with all the grass carp we have in there. When I fished it a few weeks back, I couldn't find any grass. It's too bad they could not have had a little more patience and gone a little slower as not to devastate the lake like they did the last time.  Fishing on Lake Conroe is excellent right now, in a year it will be back to terrible again.  There has to be a happy medium there somewhere.

well, i fished a club tournament saturday and sunday, and wound up getting 2nd place overall. saturday was horrible with the baot traffic. i found some grass with bait fish and caught some nice fish. about 11am a jet ski blew past me in about 3ft of water. that pretty much made me want to get off the water. WERE ARE THE CONSTABLES WHEN YOU NEED THEM!
