I was there about a month ago and caught quite a few on the south bank on the west side of the bridge.  Truffle was there and didn't catch anything a week ago, but we all know he isn't that good.  I caught all my fish on a white spinnerbait with a gold indiana blade.  The fish are there but you just have to find them, the heat is a killer out there, with how shallow the lake is.

Spent 4 years chasing the green fish on that body, until the DFG took it over.

Max depth at the over flow is 11' now...

Last time I was there I was real disappointed as to how much the DFG has cut the trees down from the points and berm's. My best is a spot 3.75lb that came from Capitan's Cove on the east side up the arm before they started cutting all the shade trees on the banks.

She came on a 3/8oz Chart/White Tandem Colorado

When there early (safe lite) buzzbaits and spinnerbaits in white along any of the berm's (arms). Then as the sun moves up, any shaded spots along the arms with 10" power worms in Black/Blue, or any of the Shad colors. Then slow jigs in Black/Blue with powercraws.

Late in the noon sun and wind slow rolling Chart/White spinnerbaits on the points has produced for me.

BTW I hate the west side especially after they put in the new diversion arm in front of the creek.

Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!

Thanks for the replys!!! My afternoon plans were shattered when you told me they took the tree's out on the westside!  Did they remove the trees out along the old creek chanel? I would love to quiz either of you about the fishing there if you care to post a number? or you can email me at sutton675612hotmail.com with a number.

Thanks, HAWG

The creek channel that runs out of the northwest still has alot of timber in it but I haven't  even gotten a bite out of it. Like Alex said, most of the fish seem to hangout near that fishing area west of the bridge. Tough lake to fish now that it's so hot out, we've blanked twice this Summer out there.  :-X

Is that the little corner I told you about with the white buzzbait?

Sounds like you were doing all the right stuff for that style of baits (lots of bulk).

I can tell you that in the 4 seasons I was on that body I tried all kinds of surface baits and the easiest to hook up on was the one with the wide open bare hook (the buzzbait) and no trailer either.

Were I was getting most of the blowups on surface baits was to shallow to let the fish have it  long enough (feeling the pressure before hook up). So I stuck to different styles of buzzing and tuning of my baits.

Did the lake get a lot of rain Sat morning? I am 20min away form it and we got 1 3/4"

Congrats....

PS: Now it's time to head for Marion State and see if you can find the State Record spot I know it's there....
