Hey all,

I fish primarily in the state of Rhode Island. For the most part, 15' is considered DEEP water here. I was wondering if my mid-west brothers (or sisters) could help me with some advice. I have a night tournament on a clear, cold, deep, (some parts as deep as 80') lake on the RI / Massachusetts border. I am pretty good with a tube bait, not so good at drop shots (we don't use 'em much in these here parts). I expect the air temperature to be in the 50's water temp???

How would you folks advise a beginner at this type of lake to start off? I plan on using tubes, cranks, and some Strike King swim baits. Any other advice is appreciated!!

I would just keep on doing with what you are using but a night you might would try moving your bait just a little slower than normal with a little more twitch. try that that is all that I have for you buddy.

FISH YOUR STRENGTHS!!  If you are good with a tube, find fish that want to eat your tube.  I think the swimbaits will be a good start as well in that clear water.  You may even want to think about some custom painted jerkbaits in real clear water.  Don't forget, downsize your line and pay the extra $ for the flourocarbon line.  Good luck, but remember, FISH YOUR STRENGTHS!
