Sickle hook.......

Featured Replies

What is there main purpose? I just now noticed them at wally world. Are they made for a specific purpose or not? Thanks!

I used some slide in jigheads that were made with them.I used them for a tube which was a lure featuring an exposed hook.I really liked them.Didn't many fish throw them.I can't find these jigheads anywhere now though.

I don't know how well the hooks work.

I bought some of them for jigs and worms. I have a lot of trouble holding fish on them. I hate um.

BTW:  CJ  if you want some tube inserts with sickle hooks, I have about 65 4/0 that I could pour up in your choice of 1/8, 1/4, 3/8 oz.

I bought some Venom keel weighted EWG hooks for using with Basstrix type swimbaits.

The hook lines up really well in the bait when rigged.

We'll see how they hook fish.

All I use for soft jerkbaits and stickbaits now are Venom Sickle's. Great hook-up ratios, and had maybe 1:20 throw it. The don't snap or bend out easy either.

I caught a fish on a hook like that one time. The fish jumped off right as I pulled him in. I never got to even look at him. :)

IMHO--Sickle hooks are junk. I returned the weighted ones from Venom..I keep most everything. I bent it out on a 12" fish. After 6 hours and 3 fish, I returned them. bad batch? maybe. Eighter way I stick with Falcon's or H & H Flutter heads for my weighted hooks. EWG wide gap gammies get my vote for unweighted hooks as well.

I would cry if i lost my gammies.
