Lake Fork Weather?

Featured Replies

Coming out next week, extended forecast shows rain the 3 days I plan on fishing. Wondering how the lake is during rainstorms/wind? Also, whats going on with the fishing this week.

I know this may be too late for your trip but Lake Fork is HOT HOT HOT!!! I just got back from 9 days on Fork and had the BEST trip ever there. Yes the wind can be a force to be dealt with but wih some planning you can get out of it or at least put in close enough to stay out of the main lake when it is whitecapping. I like to use the wind and rain if it is not too bad. Seems like I have the lake all to myself and the fish get active as the pressure is off. I fished 2 days in the rain this week on Fork and it was awesome. I had 25 to 30 fish days and for Fork that is great for me.

The spawn is on in the lower lake with fish all over on the beds. There are also post spawners starting about Dale Creek North. I always like the post spawn fish as they are easy to patten as they head out to about 8 to 12 fet of water to recover. Find the depth with cover near the spawning flat and you have big mamma bass.

I always like watermelon red flake fluke, wacky, or jig this time of year and they work just go slow. Early and late I had success with a topwater walking the dog bait. I used a Sammy but a Zara Spook will work. I also had luck with a white spinnerbait with white blades, and after dark I would catch em on a red buzz bait. As you can see the bass were very active with the water temp in the 60's all week.
