Rayburn Info

Featured Replies

Im going to Rayburn on the 24th or 25th. I will be fishing mostly from Farmers, Five Fingers,up to Coleman bay. I have not been to that lake in about a year. I was wondering about the water clarity, what depths have most fish been caught at, what colors are good for plastics (or is it still watermelon red?), Is it time to punch grass with jigs? What have most people been catching on? Lipless, c rigs, Deep cranks, Tx rigs? I bring 12 set ups so I have everything pretty much covered. Just any info would be helpfull. Jack this has your name all over it. Your the Rayburn guy, anyone else I appreciate it. Thanks. P.S. I will be throwing topwater in the morning, I have a ton of different topwater baits which has been the best. Also I don't throw ribbits.

I won a tournament yesterday fishing the midlake area.

Absolutely no top water bite yesterday for me. First fish came at 9:35am on a LC RC1.5. Fishing a clean midlake point. Next fish came at 9:43am on a watermellon/red senko off the same point in 9' of water.

No fish of any size caught for the next two hours. third keeper came on a chartruse/white spinnerbait in 1' of water fishing the green reeds that are growing everywhere in the midlake area. I mean that we were throwing the blade up in 6" of water and slowly working(Dragging) it through the thickest grass we could find. The blade was actually laying on it's side as we drug them through the grass. Damnest thing I ever saw. Keeper three was caught at 12:23. Keeper four was caught the same way at 1:45pm, and keeper number 5 at 2:21 . First time I ever saw a fish hit a blade laying sideways on the top of the water. You just had to be ready when you drug it across any small opening in the grass.

I know this sounds silly, but no one was even close to my weight. It was tough and I was the most surprised one on the water. they would not touch a frog, buzzbait, or a white spinnerbait for me. The one i caught on the Senko was the only plastic bite I got from a keeper. Caught tons fishing a wacky worm just no size. All fish were on the points or down the side of one. caught a few out deeper, but no size.

Hollar and I'll tighten up the locations for you. Fishing next weekend so I don't want to put too much out over the site.
