WI Trip / Gathering *Updated with Dates and info*

At chucks there are no stump fields in till you hit du bay. If you launch and go north on the river towards the dam there's problems. IT's not stumps  that you have to worry about. The shallow water and rock bars are what you have to worry about. The Mosinee Flowage/Half moon lake are the only place you have to worry about stump fields. But thats on the north side of the dam and 153. I am not sure if Chuck Brod has any thing to do with chucks boat ramp. I just moved to this area 6 years ago. If you don't mind me asking were do you work in Kronenwetter ? Because I live in Kronenwetter. But since I have a Mosinee address I say I live in Mosinee.

Hey Koop, do you own a DX 701C?  I've been really interested in this rod for some time, and I know it could see a lot of double-duty time for 'eyes.

I simply can't afford to shell out three bills for a rod I have never seen.

This sounds like fun, I didn't really get back into fishing until I moved up to north central wi, so it would be cool to try some places south of here. Any objections to girls on the outing? I fish like a dude!

It's mid March, has anything been put together yet for this excursion?

I can't speak for everyone, but I'm thinking we are good to go. Just waiting to see where the dust settles from the road trip.

You are more than welcome to come.

I wont be making the Pickwick trip unfortunately, to much stuff happening in life atm.  But this trip is definitely going to happen, though I no longer can house anyone as I have been doing renovations to my house for the past 2 months and have a lot to do still, it is all torn up putting in hardwood floors and painting to get it sold.  That and I bit off a bit more than I could chew with school this semester, mid terms this week then things should ease up a bit.

Sorry I haven't been around much as of late, will try to be on here more often.  If you need to contact me, shoot a PM or get ahold of Ken, he has my cell # and email.

The ice is almost totally melted!!!   ;)

Bump-

Yes this is still happening.  We will be on the Madison Chain.

Hey guys I would also be interested in this,  I live in Reedsburg ( close to wis dells) never fished the madison chain,  but know what it can produce, keep me updated,   been fishing lake wis last couple of days and it's been slow for me.

Alrighty, tentative dates for this bad boy is June 5-6 (first weekend in June) on the Madison chain.

Launch:

We will stage at 5am and launch at 5:30 (If this is to early for those traveling please let me know and we can move it back an hour?)

We will launch out of Olbrich Park (best launch closest to the east side/I-90 of Madison instead of having everyone drive downtown. It is also very close to the Tenne locks if we do lock into Mendota).

Address:

Olbrich Park

3527 Atwood Ave

Madison WI

Directions:

From I-90 S or I-90 N

To US-12 W/US-18 W/W BELTLINE HWY

To US-51 N/STOUGHTON RD via EXIT 266.

Take the CR-BB ramp toward COTTAGE GROVE RD.

Turn RIGHT onto CR-BB W/COTTAGE GROVE RD

Right onto ATWOOD AVE/MONONA DR.

End:3527 ATWOOD AVE is on the LEFT.

(Total of about 6 miles once you hit the Beltline)

Lunch:

We can either bring lunches, or lock into Mendota and eat at the Union Bay.

Misc Info

Lock Fee: $5 /day

Olbrich Launch Fee: $8/day

Expect water temps in the mid 60's

We will start on Monona, if things are slow we can always take the Yahara river into Tenne park and lock into Mendota, or go south into Waubesa/Lower Mud Lake.

I wouldn't recommend going any further south than lower mud as there are still a lot of boulders in the river going into Kegonsa and no channel markers... Unless you have those boulders marked on a GPS it could end up being a bad day.

All this said I doubt we would need to go anywhere but Monona/Mendota unless someone has a real want to go into one of the southern bodies.

Let me know how this will work for everyone

If you plan on attending please PM me some info and I will start a list here.

Please provide me with info if you will be bringing a boat or would like to attend as a non boater. (I will figure out non boater fees depending on who matches up with who and how far everyone is commuting.)

Sounds good Koop, I think I have my boat farmed out for that weekend though, so I may be a non boater.  The family is going north the prior weekend and I don't believe I'll have the boat back until the 6th.  Count me in as a non-boater....pm to follow in a couple of days.

About a month away, only 2 people signed up so far... any more interest?

You can count me in.  As long as nothing comes up from now until then.  I have a 14 ft alumacraft that I will be bringing, it is setup nicely for 2 people.  As far as right now I'll be rolling solo so I can accommodate one other angler.  ( I can't PM yet because I don't have enough posts).

I pretty sure I will not be able to attend the trip.  My mom has grown gravely ill, and I need to care for her.

I appreciate all the wok putting this thing together Koop.  I was really hoping to see some Dobyns rods up-close; nobody in these parts carry them.
