Stockton Lake Missouri

Featured Replies

I'm taking my boat on a business trip and going to fish Stockton lake for a day or two.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks, Rod

Well Rod, I fish there a lot.  If you are bass fishing, jigs, tubes and worms on main lake points have been working.

If you have any early breeze, spinnerbaits and buzz baits may work for a couple of hours early.

If you are crappie fishing they are 12' deep in timbered coves and creeks.

I don't know about the walleye.

We will be bass fishing.  Any particular spots that you would start out on or make sure we hit.  Thanks for the help.  Rod

I think Stockton is a real pretty lake and I go there once or twice a year.  Mostly, I fish main lake or secondary points - mixed results.  Out in the middle of the lake there are some islands that I've had some success using jerkbaits - early in the year.  When you ask around, it seems that most of the locals are more interested the the walleyes than the bass.

I wouldn't recommend Orleans Trail resort.  The central location close to the town of Stockton is nice, but the last time I stayed there the room was really dirty with mouse turds  everywhere.

Hey Rod, when you goin'?  I've had good luck in the very backs of the major creeks for largemouth.  Spots are abundant on secondary points closer to the main lake.  Give me a shout when you get down here, I could possibly meet you as it's only about an hour away.

Dang Jon, I forgot you were close.  We were there Monday afternoon and Tuesday.  Fishing was tough until 6:00 Pm on Tuesday and then we found a rock ledge and a brush pile that we sat on for 3 hours and caught almost 30.  Turned a tough trip into one I want to try again.  I'll call for sure next time.
