Questions re: Bass fishing in Huntsville, Ontario

Featured Replies

Bassresource.com's message boards are a fantastic wealth of knowledge. Hoping some of you guys and gals with bass fishing experience in Ontario can offer some advice.

I am going to fish with a buddy at Lake of Bays in Huntsville, Ontario from June 30-July 4. My bass fishing experience is strictly largemouth bass in missouri and southern illinois.

What type of line do folks recommend? Any lures I should consider?

Any advice is welcome!

WELCOME! I can't help you much. If fished lake Simcoe a few years back and we did well with black power worms for smallies.

Huntsville eh....cool...I used to live 1.5 hrs south of there many years ago...actually worked there for a large hardwood saanother sitell grading Basswood Key Stock (for making piano keys)...also used to grade Hard Maple for Piano Action Maple (thats the part that hits the string)

That being said I can tell you this...

The water is very very clear...prob see down 10 feet easy

Last year I fished North of Kingston Ontario with my brother and literally killed em on a Senko (Watermelon w/black & gold flake)...I out caught my brother and my buddy by at least half the fish caught (50 to 60 a day, lost count)...caught so many I had a bruise on my gut from hauling them out...after I told them to try something in green they did start to pick up a few more fish but I wasn't giving them my senkos...lol

Lastly I used 12lb floro as well as 50lb braid and saw no diff in hookups with either

Hope this helps

If you plan to go up north again please contact me. I live just south of Lake of Bays in the summer. I do not guide on Lake of bays but do guide on Lakes in that area. Vernon, Fairy, Penninsulia at Huntsville, Kushog and St Nora south of Dorset. Others nearby.
