Looking for new people to fish with, share stories with, and trade tips with from this area.

We've got a good size crew here from RI, another from Mass.  There are guys here from Ct, Tokyo-Tony for one.

When it's light out late enough and the ponds aren't frozen, I do a lot of shore fishing after work, so I have some good spots if you're interested.  And if you want to know some bigger lakes in the area I know of some good ones also, just send me a PM.

Of course if I give you some little ponds, make sure you C&R because taking a few fish from tiny ponds will kill them.  One that I used to fish a lot went to crap, and one day I realized why.  A group of guys would go there and fill a bucket with bass and just take off.  Freakin' depressing.  I hope they got sick from them.

And just to vent some more, a manmade pond I used to fish a lot was drained to make way for a parking lot for a new Sam's Club.  I went there one day, and there was no water and just dead carp and bass in the mud.  Unbelievable.  They were supposed to move all the fish to the neighboring pond, but they didn't get them all.  There used to be bass in the 4 pound class in it, and it was about 1.5 acres.

I'm in western RI near the CT line. I fish from the CT River east. Fish a lot on Amos, Pachaug, Glasgo, Hopeville, Beach, and others.

i'm from MA but i'm only about 45 minutes to an hour north of hartford. always looking for new spots and new people to throw a few casts with.

i'm in the same "boat" you are (get it?), stuck fishing from shore. i've got a couple little sweet spots up here that i've pulled 2-5lbers out of, usually catching a couple 1-2lbers each time i go.

just google map'd danbury, ct. that's a haul from where i'm at, but it looks like lake candlewood would be a good spot to go. what's the acreage on candlewood?

A lot of decent places to fish every place I fish (well just about every) has many 4lb + large mouth and thick small mouth as well but, to travel such a distance to fish a small lake meh not always worth it..

Maybe if some one here in the forum or around my way has a boat that they wouldn't mind adding 2 more anglers on LoL we could hit Candlewood

Located in 5 towns

SIZE AND DEPTH - With between ***5,400-6000 acres*** and a maximum depth of 85-93ft, about 36ft mean depth and 90-110 miles of shoreline, Candlewood is Connecticut's largest lake and one of the biggest man-made lake in the U.S.A.

WATER SOURCE - Water from the Housatonic River is released from the Main Dam built by Connecticut Light & Power in 1928. This facility is the first pumped-storage hydroelectric facility built in the U.S.

BOTTOM - "Basin" flats over 25 feet deep normally have soft silt. The shoreline is primarily steep-sloping and hard-bottomed sand, gravel, cobbles, boulders, bedrock outcrops.

SHORELINE - Candlewood fills several flat, winding valleys between steep, forested hills. Northeast Utilities Company controls the entire 60 mile shoreline to elevation 440. Most of the land above this level is privately owned

Notes of my own there are several islands, rock points, an actual cemetary, lots of weeds and a load of docks to fish

Candlewood is right up there with the big name lakes when it comes to smallies. Seen tournaments won there 8 fish limit=35+ pounds of smallies.

Yeah man, and you could fish all the way around the shoreline in less than an hour.  It was a great way to spend an hour after work  :-/

And tin, if you fish Amos, you should hit up Wyassup too, right near Foxwood's.  It's got some smallies, although not too many.  There's an abundance of dinks, but if you fish deep with a jig you can catch some nice LMB's.  I know of a guy who caught a 7 lber in there the beginning of last summer, so they're in there for sure.  If you beat the banks you can pound out 50 dinks in no time, if that interests you.  I usually go there on my way to the casino and just hang out on my float tube for a couple hours.
