New Hampshire Bassin' 2008

Featured Replies

Hows everyone making out up there? I'm probly going to repaint my boat and trailer next week and start getting everything organized. Let me just say that I am absolutly PUMPED for this upcoming season. I mainly fish Mascoma Lake, and I am going to beat its waters to death this year, in search for some monster smallies. I live in mass, but I can already see myself moving north after high school and college. I just love New Hampshire! Isn't it awesome , waking up at 5am to the loons, heading out on the lake while the fog is still rising and the sun is coming up over the mountains. To me, it's truly an awesome experience. Long live New Hampshire!

I agree with every word.  Gotta love NH...if there were only a few warmer months to enjoy it!

Yeeeee Haw New Hampshire. I can't wait for ice-out and trout fishing on the Swift River!!! and smallmouth fishing on Merrymeeting Lake. Get your rods and tackle out!

Haha I'm the exact opposite. Although I love NH and it's wilderness, it doesn't last long enough for ***atic like myself. I'm trying to head South for college and if I like the year round warmth I'll probably end up living in the warmer climate after college.

I live in MA but spend quite of a bit of my Summer's in NH, mostly in the Lakes Region. I have fished in the Swift river and seen some BIG wild brookies.  How is the Merrymeeting river though? I've only driven by it and it looks awesome, how's the bass fishing in it though? Are electric motors allowed or canoe/kayak only?thanks.

When it's warm out, NH is an amazing place but the ice of New England just kills me in the Winter.

I could never live anywhere else besides New England. One, I love snowmobilin, and the smell of Polaris exhaust ;D Plus, you can't beat New England Chowda!!  ;D Those things help the winter pass ;)

You ain't lying! I love New England year round but once March hits I'm ready for the white stuff to go the heck away. Skiing gets me through the winter months then fishing, golfing and my motorcycle carry me through late fall. Since my warmer weather activities started outnumbering cold weather fun I've thought about a move south but I know it'll never happen...at least not until arthritis sets in.

Merrymeeting River is awesome. I've caught several 4-4.5 lb largemouth and some huge pickerel. A ton of yellow perch which just make alot of people angery but not me. I eat em. I take my canoe with a trolling motor. I saw a duck hunter with a small gas outboard. I don't believe there are restrictions, but I thought the duck hunter was mad! There's alot of high vegetation and even my trolling motor was getting jammed up. Best places to launch:    Rt. 11 Public Access - about a quarter mile past the New Durham intersection on the left as heading north.    On Merrymeeting Rd. heading toward the lake, about 1500 feet before Bracket Rd you can launch either side. The closer to the lake you are, the less vegetation to deal with. Need to know about rivers,, I'm the man.

Yeah, I live in New England and 1) Don't eat seafood and 2) Don't snowmobile. I think I was born in the south and the hospital accidentally shipped me up north or something  ;D

and A.J. thanks a bunch, I may PM you as my summer vacation gets closer, which isn't until June-ish.

Once the weather warms up there is no place nicer to be. But the winters kill me. I've been trying to convince my wife to move farther south, but no luck so far.
