Spring Lake in Central Illinois

Featured Replies

Any of you guys fish Spring Lake in Illinois (south of Pekin)?

I am interested in taking a little road trip down there because I

hear it is loaded with fish and Lilly Pads.

Is it worth the trip this time of year?

JT, I have never fished Spring Lake but do business with folks down in that area who have asked me to fish it. They claim it is one of the best Bass Lakes in the area bar none. What they tell me is if you like frog fishing this is the lake for you. I stopped to take a look once about two years ago in early spring. There was still some overnight ice on the edges in early morning and was shocked on how clear it was. If it stays that clear I am sure the lily pads will make a difference. These folks claim the the early morning bite is good and evening bite and some claim they caught bass in the 8 lb range. Hope this helps.

Thanks Guys.

We lost a lot of our lilly pads and stuff like that in the recent Mississippi River floods and I have a newcomer to Bass Fishing

that would really like to try fishing frogs in pads. We might have

to road trip in a couple of weeks.

Any more feedback from others would be appreciated.

Spring Lake is a nice lake to fish . As long as you can find the fish I would say come on down and fish it . Catch most of my fish there early in the morning and the bite really dies off at about 9:30 or so . Never fished it in the evening so I can't help you out there
