Long Pond in southeast connecticut

Featured Replies

Has anyone here fished this body of water? I'm going to fish it saturday witha few friends and wanted to know if it was worth the 45 minute drive from northeast connecticut.Seems like a good pond according to the lakes and ponds book put out by the d.e.p. But then again some of that information is old and out of date. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. I throw lots of jigs and carolina rigs.

Been there 3 times in the past.  Good lake.  lots of good spots from a boat.  It is worth it to go through the tunnel too, but the main lake has plenty of fish too.

I don't have any great spots, but I've got bass from about everywhere.  There's docks grasslines and lillypads, laydowns, rock, good points and dropoffs.  good chance of getting some fatties.

Ave. fishing pressure, some club tourneys but I don't think it gets hammered.

any other Q's

sounds like a decent place. I was looking at the tunnel/culvert wondering if it would be worth going under, guess i will. I was planning on finding some points/transition areas to start. then maybe the obvious laydowns/pads whatnot. Well thanks for the input. A chance at some fatties would be nice. Thanks again fishizzle. If you happen to ever be up in the northeast corner of ct. looking for info or a place to fish I would be more than happy to give any info i can.

The other side of the culvert is like a completely different fishery.

Shallow and lots of pads.  Its worth a few casts on the edges or doing some froggin.

Its a big lake on both sides so choose your strength.

Sounds like you have a good game plan to start.

In the main lake does one side drop off quicker than the other, or is it pretty uniform? I wonder if flippin the pads on the other side of the culvert would be a good idea. I'll let you know how i make out, we're having a little friendly $10 tourney between 3 boats of guys i work with. your more than welcome to participate if you would like, we're all easy going laid back kinda folks. We'll be there at 7:00a.m.

thanks for the invite

flippin pads in there is endless --good luck

there are some deeper spots

there are dropoffs on both sides of the shore
