NEED NEW MICHIGAN SPOT!

Featured Replies

Been fishing a place called Metro beach that is off of lake saintclair and things have slowed down :D.

Anyone got any golfcourses or lakes/rivers/ponds that are good fishing in southeast michigan that they are willing to give up?

I was gonna try and hit up metro beach this year...but gas prices kept me close home.

Everything around here is semi slow too.I fish ford and belleville lake.Ford is just starting to heat up again with smallmouths. The largemouth for the most part eluded me this year.

What city do you live in?

Falcon

If you can get in the GM Tech Center in Warren has a really nice pond along mound road that is full of LMB.  Nothing to go in there for an hour and catch 5 or 6 two to three pounders.

Last year I was looking for the best lake for monster bass (in michigan). After hours (days) of research I found it. I know its a little far for many of the SE Michigan guys, but all I can tell you is it was well worth the trip. The lake is Fletcher's Floodwaters (also known as Fletchers Pond). If youre not familiar with it, then you need to look it up. It is in Hillman, MI...about 20 miles west of Alpena. I took my girl up there for a week and we slayed some big ones. The 1st day she caught a 4 1/2 lb. LM when we were fishing the NW part of the lake. Do a yahoo or google search for some photos and you'll be amazed. It rained on us alot but didnt slow down the fishing very much. She really wants to take the trip back there. We pitched a tent and made that home at one of the few campgrounds there and met some really great people there. I live in Shelby Township (SE Mich) and will most definately take the drive north again next year. About the lake...its full of trees and stumps...you really need to be careful when navigiting. It is known for eating props and lower ends. Im matter of fact it is quite peaceful out there because there aren't any skiers or jet skis out there because of the stumps. Just fishermen (and ladies). I had her at the front to help navigate because of it. But when you do get into the thick of it...hold on, cuz there are some monsters in there. I saw a guy bring in a 21 in. LM when we were standing at the shore. Very impressive.

sanford lake, and wixom lake idk how many times i can tell people that.  those two lakes are amazing you can skip docks all day and catch 2-4lbers or go back and fish the rivers and coves with a frog and catch the same fish. and in the fall the lakes are even better fishing a spinnerbait or a jig.

Is there a certain spot? Would like more info please. =)

I'm heading up there next spring in mid May.  I'll be with a veteran of that water but in separate boats.  I must say I'm concerned about boat damage.  Some say rent a boat on sight.  Others say go for it.  What say you?

I say use your own boat, but just take it slow. If you bust a prop on the rental then you need to buy a new one anyways.
