Lake Meade

Featured Replies

I plan on fishing Lake Meade down by York springs after thaw out....if it ever freezes. I have never fished this water before.

I did a good bit of at home research, resulting in finding the creek channel, and that from the looks of my topo maps, there isn't many breaklines on the bottom....looks mostly flat.

I could not pull up any previous tournament results on this lake. Nor could I find any fishing reports.

I have explored the shoreline a great deal using google earth and other satellite images, and I have printed off both a topical version, and a satellite version of the lake.

I have a few questions that I could not find answers to.

1. What are the primary types of aquatic vegitation?

2. Is there any off-shore structure?

3. What are the primary species of baitfish?

Thanks for the help!  ;)

I've lived there for eight years. built a house outside of yorksprings in the orchards about a year ago. Lake Meade is a private gated community. The lake is not open to the public. You can fish the lake if your with someone that lives in the community. There are patrol boats and cars that do frequintly check you,but if your with a resident your good. Only lake meade residents are permitted to have boats on the lake. They check all boats at the entrence gate. If you are going to be fishing this lake, I can give you lots of information on bottom structure and shoreline structure. I also can give you info on great spots and technique's that worked very well for me over the years. This lake has a very healthy bass population and a pretty good walleye population.

Crappie is huge, perch are huge.My personal best is a 8lb largemouth from this lake.Got a pic of that beast if your interested. PM me and I'll answer anything you want to know about this lake.

Thanks for the info..... ;D. I was totally unaware that it's private. Well that sucks..... >;)

I do not know anybody down there. I think I will just change my schedule and find another lake to fish that weekend...lol ;D

Oh well.......I think i'll head for Blue Marsh Lake!

                                                                      Thanks again,

I was asked to map that lake this year by a unknown person at a fishing show and knowing that its private > I said get me permission and I'll do that lake and to this day ( 10 months later ) I recieved NO calls.  Its not easy getting permission and this person failed also.

Yea, the Lake meade Municipality is very strict about lake access. When you enter the lake you have to give them your destination address. When I would have visitors, they would call my house to make sure I was expecting them. The fishing is excellent though. I've had many many 40 to 50 bass evenings. Lots of walleye fish fries on summer nights.More people use the lake for recreational use rather then fishing. Lots of boat traffic but not to much fishing pressure. I still have friends that live there,so I get to fish it sometimes.
