Northern Pa (Potter county) ice fishing!

Featured Replies

Last weekend was my first trip up north to our camp for the year. The weather was bad this time around with 16 inches of snow and some ice, but all in all...I had fun! We didn't catch many..but it's just getting away for the weekend that made it fun. Saturday we hit Lyman lake in the morning and limited out in trout, all 5 of us. We kept nothing under 12 inches. After dropping off our catch we went to Alvin Bush dam to finish out the day. We walked around checkin ice until we found a good area. All we caught were dink perch...nuthing over 4 inches, and we caught about 20 of them. Here are some pics...sorry theres none of the fish...dead batteries... >:o!

Lyman Run.......Now there are some words that haven't passed through my lips for years!

When I was a kid, like 8-15 years old, every year we made a trip to Lyman for the first weekend of trout. There would be like 15 total guys and we would stay at a motel just outside Coudersport.

My dad and just about everyone else would fish the lake out of canoes or small row boats. I would head to the dam and stream outflow, that was my cup of tea.

Your camp, is it on that nasty windy road that leads into the park/lake?

I remember that road being really bad when it had snow on it.

Thanks for sharing

Our camp is the Juniata Rod and Gun Club, it's just up the road from Carter Camp. It's about 8 miles from Germania. It takes us about an hour to get to Lyman Run.

We fished straight across form the boat launch where those big rocks are on the bottom :o.

Didnt they have Lyman drained quite a few years ago?  I used to go to Potter Co. every year for a week long fly fishing trip.

If its the same one I am thinking of, you should have seen the dead fish down stream from the pumps they were running.  Biggest dead brown trout we saw and measured was over 27".

Unreal...
