new to Peoria Il area

Featured Replies

Just moved to the Peoria area. Looking for places to fish close. I don't own a boat so it will be bank fishing for me. So far I made it to Banner Marsh near Canton but had no luck. I Had tried the river but all I got from there was a couple of small carp and a couple of what looked like Large mouth bass out of Henry Harbor around the docks. Would like to fish for bass, blue gill or crappie. Thanks for any info on where to fish that you guys give me. I just want a chance to catch something instead of a cold. Thanks again 8-)

Hi Mike -

Welcome to the area . I live in Canton . April 1st Double "T" opens up outside of Canton . Good place to fish for bass ,crappie , and bluegill . There is also Fulton County Conservation Area available to fish for a daily fee (about 7-8 miles outside of Canton) I think it's like $5.00 dollars a day . Lakeland park in Canton also has some decent fishing if you can find the fish . Banner Marsh isn't bad , but a boat is pretty much a must there . That pretty much sums up the areas around me that I know of . Also have a few private spots that are good also . Shoot me a pm if ya wanna hook up and go sometime . I've got a small boat and that makes life a little easier .

The state won't allow anyone to fish Double T until April 1st . It is closed and used as a goose and duck resting area until then. So IF someone has been fishing it anytime between Oct. till April they have been fishing it illegally.
