Crankbait problem

Featured Replies

I have a crankbait that swerves way right and I just can't figure out the problem. No it is missing one of the three hooks on the front treble hook could that be it? Thanks.

If it's running right, just slightly bend the eyelet on the bill that is attached to the line tie, to the left. The eyelet is leaning right, if it's running to the right. It needs to be straight.

YUP  CJ hit it on the head   i actually just read an article about turning the eyelid so the bait will go to the right or left so that u can crank a weededge better

I had a problem with a crankbait once that I had to bend the eye much farther to one side than normal to get it to run straight.  After looking at it further, I noticed that the bill had shifted slightly.  It had some lateral movement if you pushed on it hard enough.  I'm guessing because it was like 20 years old and beat.  It was an old Norman quarterback.  I miss that thing.

Here's something for you shallow dock fisherman. Take a deep running Bomber Flat A. Put a little bend on the eyelet so that it will run to the side. Now, the key is for the dock to be shallow enough and it must feature pontoons, not fix post. Cast past the edge of the dock but get your rod down so the line don't catch on the dock's edge. Crank it down, the lure will run under the dock hitting the bottom then it will run up and bang the bottom of the dock. If there is a fish under there most of the time it will nail it. Not really a technique for beginners but it works.

I did the same thing with minnows. This technique WORKS.
