Westford, Chelmsford, Lowell Area Fishing

Featured Replies

I am headed up to Lowell, MA from Northern Virginia and will be in the area Friday August 28th and have the day avilable to fish.  Is anyone interested in getting together to fish?  I have a whole bunch of Rage Tail baits I would like to try out up there.

Put on WEEI between 10-2 when you are up here and you will understand.

You might wet yourself when you get it.

I am looking for suggestions, I am shore bound unless someone offers up a spot on a boat.  I know of a couple of ponds in Westford but they are tick infested.

knops pond in groton has a nice stretch for shore fishing.  it's on whiley road and you park on the side of the road and walk about 100 yards through the woods (there are trails).  with the rain coming this weekend it might fill up the section of the merrimack below the falls with water in lowell, however if it's low, find a spot below the falls anyway where from 10 feet to 10 miles from the falls and you will slaughter smallmouth all day in the shallow water(big carp as well)

also if you go to tynsborough (spelling?) and stay on middlesex road there is another street called locust road ( there is a place called the dream diner on that road) and a nice pond behind there, but it's tick infested.

How is knops? Im from lowell and have been looking for a new place to bass fish. I fish from a canoe for now but mainly fish Flints Pond, Nutting lake and the pond up behind Dream Diner once or twice.

knops pond is actually just a section of a giant body of water, it connects with lost lake and some other lake i believe.  it will take a while to paddle to knops from the launch. (i fish from a kayak)  however baddacook, and massapoag are closer than knops and i always tend to do better there.  do you know where those places are?

i fish flints and dream diner all the time,  i fish from a brown kayak if you ever seen me.  i've seen a few canoes in flints before.

I know where baddacook is havent fished it but will do soon.. I will have to keep my eye open for a brown kayak! i have 15 ft almsot birch colored canoe.

How is the fishing on massapoag?

massapoag is good,  however i will only go there during the week early to ensure i'm the only one there.  everytime i went there on the weekend there is about 10 other boats all in the same area.  a shallow pond will break from the lake and the bass thrive there. you can also go into the upper half where only carptop can get in.  caught some nice ones there as well but it's not as big as lower.
