Storing Soft Plastics

Featured Replies

Hello everyone. I had a question regarding storing soft plastics. Would it be okay to remove the plastics from the original bags and keep them in a plano box? I know not to keep different colors together. Would it cause them to lose their scent? Would it effect them in any negative way?

Any help you can provide me would be great. :o

i do all the time i will open a bag and just use them then just throw the rest in a box it doesnt hurt them at all they lose a little scent not much if u are concerned about that just give the bait a quick spray with your favorite scent formula

I keep them in their bags and then into Plano 3700 boxes, most soft plastics come in bags of the same size, so you can store depending of what 's in them ( how bulky it can get when you fold the bag in half lengthwise ) from 4 up to 8 bags per line, a Plano 3700 has 4 lines so that means you can store from 16 up to 32 bags of baits.

I also store non conventional bags in a BPS spinnerbait binder. It has 5 "pages" each page with 2 zippered compartment, 2-3 bags per compartment which makes 4-6 bags per page so it can hold 20-30 bags of baits, if you get the Browning spinnerbait binder the hard side have 2 large compartments that can hold another 4-6 bags plus 4 smaller compartments where you can store spinnerbaits and jigs.

I use the plastics planos, but i find a good sized tackle box work great i can hold about 11 bags of soft plastics in one.

I like to keep them in their original bags.

I keep them in the original bags too, but im fishing from the bank, so unless I want to be carrying around a tacklebag (which gets annoying to me) I store the bags of softplastics in my vest, my vest will only hold 1 plano, and that plano is for my hardbaits/jigs/spinnerbaits. I don't bring everything with me when im walking the lake, I'll keep majority of my baits in the car, and take a plano which I will fill with everything I think im going to need/use.

But again for the soft plastics I keep them in the original packages.

I like keeping them in the original bags and sorting them by type into freezer bags, and keeping all the zip-locks in a gym bag or boat bag.

If the plastics have heavy salt content, they tend to warp the plastic dividers in the 3700's over time.

I keep them in their bags and then into Plano 3700 boxes,

Me and you both.

A lot of soft plastics that are scent injected are probably best served to remain in their original bags, as those bags often have a lot of the excess scent in them.

I keep mine in the original package in those blue BASS bags they give you with a new subscription. I wound up with three so I keep worms/ flukes in one, craws/ multi-appendage type things in another, and my accesories in the last one. As long as you know what you have in them its not hard to find what your looking for.

Orginal bags. Keeps oil, scents and salts on them better. I use a worm bag and keep like together and that makes it easier to see what I'm running short on.

I keep them in the original bags to not only retain the scent, but so I know what to shop for when I run low.

i keep themm in the orginal bags in a soft sided cooler which works great and hold alot

I keep them in the original bags in a plastic shoebox you can get at walmart.  They fit perfectly, the lid snaps shut, and you can stick them if needed.

I like to keep mine in the original package.

I also store them in my tackle bag in a cabelas soft plastic binder. It's basically the same size as a 3700 box (until you really cram it full of bags). I have two.

i keep them in their orginal bags then into big freezer bags and let all the air out of the orginal and freezer bags so i can fit more into the bigger bags. then label the freezer bags creatures, finesse, jig trailers, ect.

i have 3 plastic rubbermaid boxs that i paid 1 dollar a piece for, they go into a floating bps duffle bag. I also keep them in the original package

I leave them in the bags and place them into the:

Falcon FTO-301 Worm/Lizard Organizer

I can fit about 10-14 full bags in one.
