Terre Haute, IN Bass?

Featured Replies

I'm headed to this area to visit my in-laws over the weekend. I will probably take my boat, but not sure. There has to be some good places to fish around there. They live south of town, so it wouldn't be too far to go to Sullivan, they said there was a nice lake there. Anyone have any experience fishing it lately? Not set on this place if there is something better. Wouldn't mind catching some crappie either.

Thanks.

Shakamak St Park is good as is Green Sullivan State Forest both are close to Terre Haute...Good Luck!  The State Forest has a whole bunch of old strip pits.  The bigger ones, Airline, 26, Goose Pond, Wampler, Low Lake, Graveyard, have boat ramps that will accomadate a bass boat.

Thanks. I went to Greene-Sullivan yesterday. What a neat place, beautiful scenery. I fished Wampler, caught a whole bunch of little bass. I had a lot of fun. It would have been nice to catch some bigger ones, but it was nice just to get out and find new places. I want to go back and explore some of the other lakes there. There were a lot of bluegill caught there yesterday. Thanks again.  By the way, are there bass in all of the lakes out there?

Yep. Sure are!

Glad you found fish, even if they were small. Wampler is such a bassy lookin' lake. I really enjoy going down there and fishing the various pits.

Yeah, I'd like to spend about a week down there and just go from pit to pit.

It'd be a great week for sure!
