  1. Glad you found fish, even if they were small. Wampler is such a bassy lookin' lake. I really enjoy going down there and fishing the various pits.
  2. Shakamak St Park is good as is Green Sullivan State Forest both are close to Terre Haute...Good Luck! The State Forest has a whole bunch of old strip pits. The bigger ones, Airline, 26, Goose Pond, Wampler, Low Lake, Graveyard, have boat ramps that will accomadate a bass boat.
  3. Well Skillet, up north it has been a great numbers year so far but no real size to them. My best this year has been a 3-10 smallie at the end of March. Now that the spawn is mostly over the bigger bass will be in their summer patterns and ready to be caught. Good Luck down south, I'll get down there to Monroe or the pits a couple times and try my hand at getting a big one or two.
  4. 4" senko is a good call, the only thing I would add is to fish the windy side even if it is a pain to control the boat....the fish are still there! Good Luck!
  5. Lake Erie might just be the worlds best smallmouth bass fishery!!!
  6. I would suggest Lake Ontario or Lake Champlian, great bass fishing on both!!
  7. Electric motors only at Hurshtown. You can acess Cedar Creek in Matea Park near Cedarville. To small for a boat. There were a few tournaments at Cedarville for a few years...it took some decent weight to win. Haven't heard of any lately
  8. Those lakes are fun, I really meant the rivers or the creeks in and around Fort Wayne. The St Joe river is a decent bass fishery as is Cedarville Res, Hurshtown Res. has giant Smallies and Cedar Creek holds fish as well. JP, there are some really good smallies in James, Wawasee, Maxi, Clear and Crooked Lakes!
  9. My partner threw a trap a lot and never had a touch. Almost everyone I saw was throwing them. I have way more confidence, in the spring, in my jerkbait. I did catch the keeper largemouth on a craw. I love to jig fish but, couldn't get one to eat that either. Oh well....Do you fish around Ft Wayne much?
  10. You got some nice ones. Those guys had a nice bag! Did they say what they caught them on? I got mine on a jerkbait. Don't worry about where anyone else is going! Go out and do what you have confidence in! Just something you'll learn!
  11. Well, how did you do? I had a slow day but did weigh a 3-10 smallie. There were some good fish wieghed in!
  12. Do you fish in that club? I fished with them in the mid 90's. Had a lot of fun with those guys. I'm gonna try to get out there and fish Saturday. It will be tough....cold, clear

  14. I have had vast experience catching smallies all over the country. From the lakes here in northern Indiana to the Great Lakes. The ONE lure that I would have tied on for a trophy sized smallmouth is a Zara Spook! I fish mine on a 7ft med/hvy rod with braided line. Throw that sucker as far as you can over flats or parallel to those rocky banks. The best flats are 10 ft and shallower. The rocky banks won't matter as far as depth. Big smallies are the meanest critters that swim and they will come out of VERY deep water to smash a spook! Always remember with a smallie, if they hit it once.....they'll hit it again so, don't set the hook until you know they have it. Good Luck!
