Riging shakey heads with baits other than the finesse worms

Featured Replies

This is my first post on this site and have to say that it is pretty cool.

i have been throwing finesse worms on shakey heads exclusively over the past few years and never thought to change it up with baits such as the tiny brush hog, craws, ect. until the other day.

does anybody have experience with using baits other than the finesse worm?

thanks

Shakey heads are just small skirt-less jigs.  You can rig any plastic you like onto them.  I like rigging them with senkos, tubes, hula grubs and even lizards.  Small shakey style football head jigs work great for those kinds of plastics.  The football shape prevents the bait from laying on its side while resting on the bottom.  Don't be afraid to experiment and find out what works for you.

i rig almost everything on a shakey head    and nearly all the time it isnt a finesse worm   my favorites are yum crawbugs, zoom ultravibe craws and powerbait beast     if there are no weeds rig it straight on the hook   this gives a more natural presentation, better hookset and its a lot easiler to rig     i like the mark zona shakey heads the best because of the eye position but it really doesnt matter   as long as its the right size  if you have any questions just PM me      welcome aboard

Good topic.  I want to experiment with different baits this year.  Was thinking a craw, dt grub, brush hog......to name a few.

So many baits, so little time......

With shakey heads that heavy heavy wire hooks like Magnum Spot Removers, I put on beavers or super-hogs and flip brush and timber.

thanks for the feedback.

looks like i need to catch up! i have a bunch of craw baits that i never use but now i am going to start putting them to use on the shakey head.

Two baits I've had a lot of success on on the SH:

- Reaction Innovations Smallie Beaver

- Netbait baby paca craw

Both are deadly on spots and smallies
