Well,

Went to my local pond today. 40*...snow showers....crazy!!

Threw all the cold water baits...trap..jerkbait....spinnerbait...nothing. I had also brought along a black 1/4 finesse football jig made by one of our BR brothers, Backwater4. 3rd cast...THUMP! a 3.5 lb.-4.0 lb. beauty! And...her belly was FULL...eating up already and last week the pond was frozen. Unbelievable!!! Couldn't resist the candy!! Don't know what it is about these baits!!!!

Awesome! very impressive for Rhode Island. Pretty early, I'm heading out for the first time at the end of the week  how were you working the jig? any trailer?

Black and blue *** trailer...big trailer on a little jig. I think these jigs work so well because of the length of the hook.

Going back out tomorrow...if it doesn't snow!! It was quite obvious this fish has already been eating. I always figured they started putting on the pounds after ice out.

I'm off on Wednesday, might have to hit it!

Nice!  Still iced in up here but its starting to go quick.  I'm really chomping at the bit.
