Lake Champlain questions!

Featured Replies

Me and three buddies are planing on taking a boys week fishing trip to Champlain in early to mid june..we are going to be in Grand Isle VT and what i was wondering is what you all think about the fishing..we want to fish for bass obviously haha but i was wondering what would be the right techniques and baits to be using..should we be fishing shore line? docks? drop offs? id appreciate any advise! thanks a bunch!!

Grand Isle has a ton of good spots. I fish there at least once a week in season.

-Watermelon \ green pumpkin worms, craws & creature baits

-Cranks (natural forage - perch, bluegill) to cover the water column

I use alot of weightless plastic and focus on structure \ cover.

that sounds great thanks for the advise! would you say shallow water cover?

Most of the stuff I fish in that area is shallow cover close to deeper water. Rock piles, bridges, docks and if you like flipping grass there's that too... Find the bait, use the wind and you'll find the fish.

Real good largemouth fishing and some big smallies too. I also bagged a 41" Northern last year.

Lots of stuff up in Grand Isle.  Wanderlust nailed it, I'll add find the reefs/humps/ledges off shore for big Smallies and check St. Albans Bay for nice LM.  Zoom and Rage Tail Craws on a C-Rig.

sounds good! thanks for the advise looks like we should be set! hopefully we find some nice bass!

Don't forget Holiday Point and Popasquash and you know it's catch and release only so bring a scale a tape and a camera and don't forget to hold on.
