d**n Rob, all you were missing was some theatrical music.

I guess i should give this lake another try.

Rob, I feel for you since I have been in that situation, go back and catch her.  Just make sure you get a good picture for us to see.  I still want the trophy bass that got away the day I caught the 6lb 8oz bass, it had to be btween 8 and 9 lbs.  I will catch it before the season ends.  The reason I say that is I am going to put a canoe in that lake and hunt it down begining the middle of next month sfter I buy my canoe.

Ron, I may be able to get out on Thursday.  What time are you hitting mercer?

I am hoping to be there around 6:00 to 6:30 in the morning.  I want to get there right as the sun is coming up.  I will be there with Jay and I am hoping that Jay lands a new PB.

I will be IN THE PARKING LOT by 6:45am.  I don't care what the wife says lol, jk.  But I wanna be there for sun up and get as much time as possible before I gotta bolt at 11:30.  Hope to see you out there Rich.  Paul let me know if you are still gonna make it.

I went to Mercer this afternoon and found all of the trails along the shore were under water. There is next to no where to stand to cast out into the lake. I had my boots on and trucked through the water and mud and caught 1 dink and lost one nice bass about 3 to 4 pounds about 15 feet from the shore when it jumped out of the water for the fourth time and through my lure. I am going to pass on this lake Thursday morning and let the water level receed and let the shore dry up some before I go back.

Thanks for the update Ron.  My "long lunch" trip would have ended up a mess.  I'll probably head over Saturday morning equipped with boots.

Ron, was the water still muddy?

I've never met anyone on here but would love to meet with guys tomorrow morning(thurs)at mercer. It will be my first time there. does anyone mind if i meet you all up there in the morning?

So I think Mercer may be difficult without a boat.  All the trails were tight to the water line before the rain.

I'm still researching other options for tomorrow.  What do you think?

Has anyone fished Lake Accotink?

don't bother with Accotink.

When you are talking about the trails being flooded, do you guys mean the trail you walk on from the parking lot off Wagon Trail ln?

When I went there before the rain, the only spots I saw by the stumps where this small trail to the right and on the rocks off the bank after that.  Do you guys go into the woods where the lake starts?

went to mercer this morning and got there around 630. it was my fist time so i wasnt sure where to go. I started at the dam and was there for 2 hours and didn't ge a single bite. i walked around the lake fishing random spots until i got to the stump field. I didn't get a single bite all morning until right before i left. i was fishing the shallow part of the stumps at the end of the lake. from the bite it felt decent but didn't set the hook. i was there until noon. headed back sunday evening hopefully. anyone interested?

What were you throwing onehump?

Mercer is going to turn into the next Burke Lake, 2 years ago It seemed like no one talked about it. Yes I fish Mercer every 4-6 weeks. Not every 4-6 days. There are plenty of ponds,  lakes and rivers. Woodglen, Barton, Royal, Huntsman, Occaquan Res, Beaver dam res, Hunting Run, Lunga, the Bull Run, upper and lower Potomac rivers and all the no-named ponds that are right under everyones noses. I fish at least 4 times a week, if not 5 or 6 and never seem to hit the same place back to back. If you need a fresh spot to fish, I can point you in the right direction. Just PM me and I'll do my best based on where you have and have not fished.
