Lake Anna, 6/05

Recommended Posts

Pre-fished for my wedding there on the 27th.  Fished from Sturgeon Creek up past the State Park on the north shoreline of the lake.  Three bass worth mentioning, biggest at three and the other two around two.  Not the best that lake has too offer, but we weren't really trying all that hard.  All were on stumps on sandy bottoms in about 8 ft of water just out from grass beds.  We saw a pod of 4 very nice bass cruise through the shallows and under our boat in one cove, all looked to be over 5 lbs but none wanted to bite.  We used 3/8 oz white and white/chartreuse spinnerbaits, with tandem blabes, one gold, one silver/nickel.  We also caught a ton of bluegill on roostertails.

Sounds like a fun trip. I've been using wacky rigged senkos recently. Black seems to be a big color for me, and the senkos work really well on bedding bass and bass that aren't biting traditional baits as well.

Ah the ole spinnerbait bite at Lake Anna.  I need to convince myself to start throwing those out there during the summer with all the reports I see on em'.  Good job for not really trying man.  Some of us try real hard and only manage a fish or two.

Anna does have some large fish.  But yea they are tough to catch.  I wish I knew what the heck those tourney guys that launch out of Sturgeon during the week do because they seem to always hook into nice ones.

Congrats on the weddign and hope to hear more fish stories from ya man.  Later.
