OOOO maaannn you bet.  A topwater frog catches the biggest bass in ponds for me.  Especially in the summer they are amazing.  When the waters warm the bass just inhale them!!!  Trust me, try one.

besides hollow body frogs, you could try those buzzfrog things. I am going to try that this year, and they look promising! it doesnt have to be on topwater either, fish it a little deeper, or just under the surface.

i think why u miss them is because u have to wait a couple seconds before settin the hook.

most of the time the bass is just slappin it with its tell and then strikes it when its under the water

If you walk around that pond and see frogs, then fish with frogs. The bass are used to seeing them and eating them. Having cover is better for locating the bass but frogs will be all along a shore line.

Topwater frogs are highly effective in open water as well as ponds with weed growth. On the west coast they are widely used in open water to present bass with a different presentation. I personally use the Mann's hollow body frog and i love them, other then that i know snag proof makes a great frog, and these days you hear a lot about the Spro bronzeye. Good luck!
