anyone know some good amateur, non-boater tournaments in the Atlanta area??? I want to start gettin into some for the first time.  

We are only a few weeks from the end of tournament season. Once deer season opens it's hard to find a tournament.

There are lots of bass clubs.  My club fishes into October.  I mostly fish by myself however I have a boat.  I am always looking for someone to take fishing if you are interested.  My nest tournament is on Lay Lake in Alabama.

Check out the Wal-Mart BFL's or the B.A.S.S. Weekend Series.  Both of those trails offer you a big tournament experience while not killing you financially, and you will learn a ton while meeting some wicked nice local anglers.
