st johns river fishing in palatka

Featured Replies

okay lets get to the hard stuff is there anyone who does good in this river??

I grew up in Palatka and fished the St Johns a lot back then. But that was over thirty five years ago. That was before they dammed up the Ocklawaha river to create the Rodman Reservoir.

If it hasn't changed since then, you should look for the places with a gravel or sand bottom and use a Carolina Rig. I also used to catch a lot of fish using a Texas rigged worm targeting bridge pilings and docks. There are some big fish in the St Johns. You just have to find them.

The St. Johns is one of my favorite places.  Out of De Bary.
