Florida Lake suggestions

I will be traveling from Chicago to Florida the week of 1/10-1/16 and will be staying in Pinnelas County visiting relatives. Looking for suggestions of bass lakes within an hour or so drive. This will determine whether I drag the boat with me or just end up stuck with the family Looks like Lake tarpon is in the area, has anyone fished there?

I have been out on Lake Tarpon just about every weekend this year.

Pretty good fishing and I have had some success.

Caught a few in the 5 lb range this summer.

The fish have moved now getting ready to spawn, but are not in the shallows yet.

Still looking for them now. >

I have had a lot of success in Winter Haven chain of lakes. Fantastic places to explore and catch some bass. Awesome fun.
