I need to know what reel and rod combos to use with the following lure types.

1. Crankbaits- Just need to know what type of rod to use like Medium, Heavy????

2. Spinnerbait- Same as above.

This is definitley a question for the rods/reels/line forum.

Unless I'm deep cranking, I like a medium powered rod.  If I'm going deep, then a MH.  For open water cranks, get the longest rod you're comfortable with.

I prefer a slow reel for most of my crankin, something around 21-23 IPT.  Most reels with a 5.1:1 ratio fall into this category.  The only exception to this is shallow cranking, then I prefer a fast reel.

For most spinnerbait work, a MH rod is the way to go.  The reel depends upon what you do most.  If you find yourself slow-rolling big baits a lot, a lower gear ratio is the way to go.  For general spinnerbait work,  a 5.8:1 - 6.3:1 will do a great job.
