i've been fishing docks ,grass, and beds in the shallow pts of the lake and im only catching small fish ..like 2 to 3 lbs...

i was wonder if i should start tring the deeper parts of the lake....

i fish mostly in the middle of the day till sun down...

what are some ways to fish the deep bottoms for bass...here in florida... ;)

Give them a few more days of warm weather and the big girls should be coming shallow. The next two weeks should be some of the best shallow water fishing of the year. If you want to fish deeper, maybe crankbaits or carolina rig any drop offs.

it is possible in some small lakes they simply are not there or at least not many.

i seen two , 3 or 4 pounders today on beds ...but they wouldnt bite anything i threw at them ...i tried spinner baits and seinko

Man, I haven't caught anything of a decent size in a while... The biggun's just haven't been bitin' lately. Nothin' but dinks.

I think FishinDaddy has the right idea. Next couple of weeks should definitely be pickin' up!

Throwing a big lizard or creature bait into the bed is one way to get them.  I also like a small craw rigged on a spot remover jig.

chain of lakes over in winter haven... i think these lake see to much action...im new to fishing ...

thanks for the tip on how to get them out of the beds ...i heard about the lizard ...i heard the bass hate lizards and try to kill them ...i just bought some

The south chain is tough but you can catch them.  Warmer and I are fishing in a tournament there Saturday.  I will let you know what we find.  In the meantime, try pitching a craw or a jig up around the bull rushes.  Bull rushes only grow on a hard bottom which the bass like for beds.  Try next to them and any holes you see in the grass.  With the wind up this week visibility is going to suck so you have to fish where you "think" the beds should be.

If the fish aren't spooking out and dissapearing and always coming back and lingering around the nest they WILL be caught! Believe it.You really have to work a big girl sometimes though. Best advice I can give it to try different baits and or colors.I have seen too many times where they will nose up to something over and over or just nip at it.Change retrieves,shaking,popping,deadstick.Then change sizes bigger and it just pizzes them off and they crush it. Bed fishing is a whole different world.

My neighborhood lake is the lowest I've ever seen it before. We need a good 4-5 ft of water in there, maybe that has something to do with it... Come on hurricane season!

No but seriously....it isnt the water level. Low water is good. It is the cold weather we have been having. The water temp has been all over the place and the big ones seem to be scattered and making up their minds on when to bed up.

Inconsistent water temps= indecisive fish

March full moon could be the big spawn if it stays warm.

I finally nailed a decent fish today! 3-4 pounder, didn't weigh it, but she was pretty fat! Thing fought like a little dink though, besides one little run under the boat, so it wasn't TOO much fun... But we definitely got on some fish today and it seems the biggun's are hopefully getting hungry again!

target staging fish .if you can find the first drop that has a grass line.flukes, trick worms,lizards,soak em in the grass w/o much action or movement.i just had a friend win a tx. down that way doin that just a week ago.

im new to fishing but with so many experianced fishermen on this site ...im am learning at light speed ... i landed a 4lb bass yesterday it's the bigest i have ever caught it felt great...

also top water frog early in morning worked.....

and i did release them ...it feels strange but im getting use to it..

did see snakes though swiming

i think they were the banded water snake ...

We tied for last...  There were two big bags of the day.  One came out of lake Winterset and the other out of Lake Jesse.  We were in Lake Mirror and Lake Spring.   Several fish over 8 lbs were weighed in but not by us.  We caught several on frogs and one small one off a bed with a black trick worm.  Nasty, you should try Winterset if you get a chance this week.  They were caught flipping the outside edges of vegetation.

i live right by winterset ...will fish it as soon as the weather gets better ...

sorry to hear bout last place finish but the chains can be a challenge do to the fact its so many lakes connectted...i bet lake connie has some big fish too...i fish lake summit and lake eloise...but im going to try winterset next...
