Fishing in the Suffolk,VA area??

Featured Replies

my inlaws live there and i was wandering what kinda fishing is up there. i have heard good things about the Chesapeake Bay but i dont have any idea as to how to go about fishing that place. Do you have to have a VA liscense to fish the bay? just looking for some help. thanks

I have family in Chesapeake and we visit several times per year.  I've never fished the bay but I can tell you that there are many places down there that have fantastic bass fishing.  Just do a seach on VADGIF website and they list all the major ones.  We also fish several of the many ponds, pits and canals.

You will need a nonresident freshwater fishing license to legally fish other than for private ponds.

You will also need a nonresident saltwater fishing license if you fish the Bay other than if you go with a charter boat that provides the license for the trip.

You can get the licenses at Wal-Mart.

Or, you can just take a chance and hit the ponds around Suffolk.  :)
