Tried new technique with Horny Toad

Featured Replies

I was tired of throwing my buzzbait yesterday so I switched to a Horny Toad. I decided to try something different after getting some hits on a falling buzzbait.

I cast beyond my target and retrieved it fast enough to make the legs kick and then I stopped it right at the edge of the weeds and BAM!!!

Hardest hit to date from a little 17" mama.

Yeah. That is the only reason that I use soft plastic frogs instead of spro frogs.  Something about the frog diving under water get the ones that wont chase the topwater.

That's why I love my Horny Toads!! I LOOOOVE the way the hammer it like there's no tomorrow!! What color were you using?

:( 8-)

x2, I love to see a wake from about five feet and one smash it.

I don't know the name of the color but it was a medium brown back and white belly.

That technique is one of the reasons horny toads are cool.

Over all, I like other frog/toad baits better (cane toad, sizmic toad), but only the horny toad has that quick gliding descent that looks like how a real frog dives.  It is almost kind of like the action that was promised with the flying lure, only in this case it works...  I get more fish on the glide with a horny toad than I do buzzing it...
