KERR

Featured Replies

Going to be heading down there the 22nd through the 24th and was wondering how its been fishing lately..We will be launching at Saterwhite or nearby any tips would be great as well. I hear its great in the spring but I have never gotten there yet always seem to make it for the fall schoolies. I hope they're right.

By the time you get there the spawn should be almost over, if not over.

If just over, you will see the big females under docks and piers along the shoreline and they will not hit your baits.

If the bass have recuperated, you should do well.

We caught them two weeks ago on white/chart spinnerbait on any wood in the shade and Shad Raps along the shoreline.

Check out the water level. It was 304 when we fished so the water was in the bushes.  Last week the Corps started to draw the water out and it fell over a foot in two days. The fishing was not that good.

Baby brushhogs were successful, too.

So who knows what they will want but I am sure you will catch some with whatever you throw.  :)

I've got to get back down there this year.  I swear this lake has the best population of 3-5lb bass in the state.  I also love the fact that boat traffic is nothing on this lake.

You should have a great time.  With spawn pretty much over there and the water level just above 300  you can't ask for much better.

Thanks everyone for the input ill post on the results next week

if you fish any areas where the water is murky...haha the whole lake is murky sometimes...try a white spinnerbait with a chartreuse trailoer or a chatter bait in the same color..worked really well for me this time last year

My cousin just texted me from his tournament on Kerr today and said he got 16 bass. 2 on a Senko, 4 on a popper in the morning, and about 10 on a shakey head.

Ah yes, the shaky head.

Works on Gaston, too.  :)

Yep, his tournament before Kerr was on Gaston and he said he caught all bed fish on shakey headed Zoom Baby Brush Hog.

Another great bet this time of year on Kerr is a floating worm around the bushes and spinnerbaits around rip rap and flat points.  Hold on!

Well got back from Kerr today..Lets just say I don't know why I left the Potomac to try somewhere new  :-[ . We did have a good time and caught about near 20+ keepers a day but they were tough to pattern. We fished uplake from Satterwhite on sat fished almost all brush (i wont carolina rig) but could not get them to eat anything but baby brush hogs in anything but green pumpkin. Took a few one smaller smallmouth colored cranks but not many Biggest for sat being 4.2 lbs.

Sunday I decided to go around the point and downlake as far as I could but could not get them to bite the BBH's so decided to try a grey/blue mans baby 1- and racked em up casting to cover on the bank til about 2 then it was lockjaw time. Caught 5 in the 3-3.5 lb range and the rest between 1.5-3lb

Ill see if the sd card works or not when it dries out and post some pics. Word of advice DO NOT leave your camera bag in the livewell when you fill it up.........

Hope my little tidbit of info helps everyone out if you were looking for it and thanks for the info.
