Monday Morning 5/25

Featured Replies

Hey guys/gals,

I wanted to share the outing from yesterday. Andrew (AndrewDo124) and I had a rare opportunity to hit our favorite spot, and it was well worth the time. Such a great morning to be out, we saw tons of great wildlife, caught lots of fish, and had a chance to catch up.  We each landed at least 10-15 fish, and then each caught a decent kicker fish. Andrew's fish going around 2+ and mine at 4lbs 8oz. Sorry no pics on his fish ;)Andrew, thanks for a solid outing.  :)

Classic pi****-off snapper posture!  Oh, and nice catch.

WTG Kevin, that is a nice looking fish.  What did you catch it on?

Mudkart, yea, we were having a little fun with it. He was pretty upset ;D

Rondef, I was using a 6 inch Senko. Not sure of the color name, it was dark green. Andrew actually gave it to me. I've already ordered up a few packs :P

Thanks guys.

Nice job guys! those are some solid fish Kevin, glad to see a report from you

That snapping turtle was NOT happy with us being there!

It was a very good day of fishing and I was very happy to have Kevin join me. We each easily caught 15-20+ fish but most were dinks. I spent most of the day using a megabass type-x that Simonsays gave me for xmas and a rage lizard. Didn't really feel like changing things up as the fish were hammering these lures.

I wish we got a picture of the monster carp...

The color of the 6" senko was watermelon with red flakes. It's what I used to catch my PB a few years ago.

Kev's fish had to have been in less than a foot of water....it was crazy but a great way to end the day.

Not bad for less than 4 hours of fishing... :D

Yea I knew I was being somewhat conservative on the numbers. I caught all of my fish on Senko 5" Pumpkin/black flake, and Mepps#5 Black Fury White/Black. We also lost quite a number of fish as well. Certainly a memorable outing, that I learned a lot from.

Wish i did get a pic of that carp, it was a least 4ft long. We also saw huge Swan that was not very able to take off from the water due to its size, haha. Beautiful bird though.

Andrew you are correct. That fish was sitting about 1 foot off of the shoreline, in about a foot of water. Crazy, I thought one of us was going to have to go in after it, but fortunately she broke herself free and I was able to do the rest.  :)

Kevin, in simplest terms and in the nicest way: I HATE YOU!  You and your inline spinners!  Lol.  Dude we HAVE to get out this year lol.  I am gonna get your schedule, if we call our free time part of schedules anymore haha, I know we got a lot on our plates.  But regardless we will find time to get out and catch some eventually.

Maybe we can get the wives to walk around one of the park lake areas and stuff with the kids while we cast, and then we can all go out to lunch or something.  We'll figure it out.

Keep at it buddy.  Enjoyed the post thoroughly.  Always enjoy the nature pics that folks take.

great catch. I also have to give you props on your photography skills. Those are some great picutes

Mottfia

Not bad, for an iphone... :D

And what about my stick waving skills?!?! That snapping turtle didn't just pose cuz it was cool! 8-)

that turtle is gross and terrifying at the same time...

Hey guys, sounds like a great outing.  Nice fish Kevin.  I was cleaning out the garage last weekend and found a snapping turtle in there still alive.  We're a half mile from any water.  I'm planning on heading out tomorrow on my kayak, but can't decide were to go.  I'd love to go to Mercer, but can't figure where to put in.  If anyone knows, give me an PM.

the best bet for an easy launch seems like it would be up by the dam off Galla Knoll circle. No public parking there so you would probably need to move your car afterward.

Check google maps and you can probably find some other spots to put in but as far as I know, you would have to move your car from any of them to avoid the possibility of getting towed if you are on the northern side of the lake.

Totally forgot about this post! thanks for the comments everyone. i hope everyone is catching some fish also. Allyn, you hitting the water these days? Where about are you? Maybe we can meet up soon.

Jay, you too,  we MUST hammer out a plan in between raising these kids. Holler at me on PM fellas, lets try and do something. Okrod, what did you end up doing with the turtle in the garage? I would have freaked. :o

Yea, man. I did a little frog fishin in manassas last weekend with two fish, but nothing worthy of a post.  ;D I stay in the manassas/centreville area but I will travel just about anywhere for some new/productive water. If you wanna try somewhere around here thats cool too, I've just been getting the ol' skunk so much I don't know if I could put you on fish for sure. Let me know dude!

We dropped it off at a local pond.  Man that think stank up my truck.
