Trailer hooks

Featured Replies

I was at a fishing class being given by Spence Petros tonight. He was talking about buzzbaits and using trailer hooks. And I'm sitting there thinking "duh, no kidding". Well he goes on to say to put the trailers so they face backwards and low. His thinking is that if the bass hits and misses, it might hook the bottom jaw with the trailer upside down. I never thought about it and think it might be a good idea. I like going to these classes. If I pick up one or two good ideas, it's worth what I paid. Has anyone ever heard of this or tried this? Has anyone else gone to any classes/seminars and have some new ideas or info that we could all use?

If the cover allows you to run a trailer hook upside down why not use a #1 treble hook like I do? Works for spinnerbaits too!

maybe for more open water but it wont work good in cover...but i don't think that it will make much difference anyway cause i think that it's worth runnin it through some cover then the 2 or 3 fish u might hook in upen water that misses it..

I agree with Ohio, open water only.

I use them 100% of the time . I lose more baits but I land more fish.

1/0 Gammy trailer hook, although I catch the majority of my fish on the main hook there are a few fish I was glad I had the trailer on :)
