Va. Tech fishing holes

Featured Replies

I will be attending Virginia Tech this fall.

My roommate and I are both avid fishermen who can't go without fishing while we are up there.

I was wondering if anyone knew of any local holes that weren't very far away that have public access and lot of fish.

I would have to say the New River over near the Rafdord Campus, one exit away.  The other place I know of would be Claytor Lake.  I am sure that there are other members on here that can also tell you about spots down in that neck of the woods.

the places rondef suggested are good but Claytor would be difficult without a boat and both would require a car (it sounds like you are going to be a freshmen so you probably won't have a car).

check out google maps. Use the satellite view to find some bodies of water near campus. I just checked it out and found a pond labeled Stroubles Creek right next to campus. Try to find some friends with cars and who also enjoy fishing. Make sure to check out the fishing team also.

join our team, were always looking for new memebers and we have plenty of boats this coming season i just bought myself a 02' ranger...www.bassfishingteamatvt.com screw ponds and "fishing holes" we all fish claytor a good amount, and tear up the smallies out of kayaks on the new (and the occasional musky) let me know if you want any more information at work now so can't write much, tight lines

There are ponds, or at least one pond, on campus.

You may want to see if there are bass in it.

Let us know.  :)
