Your Braid Of Choice?
I have recently been trying out new braids. I first used Power Pro, and as of now that is my favorite. I have suffix tied on one of my rods, and I am disappointed in its performance. I seems to be a stiffer braid and cause a lot more problems when casting. I will be trying fireline after this to compare it to the others.;

Tourney this weekend
first of all I am not sure if this is in the right section, but I am going to be fishing my first tourney this weekend for my school's fishing team. The tournament is at claytor lake. What I want to ask is about what to throw. The weather leading up to the tournament will be in the low 70s in the day and the mid 40s at night. What do you guys think the water temp will be this weekend on the lake? What things would be good to throw in a lake like this at this time of the year?

College Text Books
I paid 250 for one book last semester...not fun. There is some site on the web that you can buy sell and trade books with some deep discounts. I cant remember the name though.

Skunked again
I went out to the new river again today in Montgomery county and Radford. I can never seem to get a bite there. I throw everything in the Tacklebox, but nothing bites. There water was really up today, and the current was quite fast. I dont know if that had anything to do with it, but I really want to get a bronzeback soon before the school year is over here at VT. So what I am asking is what does everyone look for when they go out for smallies from the bank. Do you look for pockets behind rocks where there are current breaks or what?! Also what types of baits are you throwing. I was trying mainly tubes today with some jigs thrown in there. Also is it easy to tell when you have a bite, because whenever I cast out I always get the little ticks of it jumping over rocks and into little crevices in between rocks and mud and such. Any help is much appreciated because like I said I want a smallie, and with the New River possibly being the best smallmouth fishery in virginia I would say that I have pretty good chances. Thanks.

High School Sucks!
I have taken two year of Calc as of now and one piece of advice to you is practice problems. Along with looking at the problems you did during class get some new questions out of your textbook and study those. I am sure you teacher will be willing to help you as of now. I am also assuming that your last quarter dealt with derivatives. My toughest semester was the one containing derivatives. Integrals are easier. Good luck and hit the books.

Kids fish anymore?
I am in college and I fish along with my school's bass fishing team which is 25 strong. But, I understand what you are saying about younger children I dont see that many fishing when I go out.

Braid-to-Fluoro
X2 double uni is the one I use

Joining braid to mono leader?
Double uni knot. I have been using this for almost a year now and it is very good and easily slides through the guides without loss of casting distance. I personally use a 2 or 3 foot leader.

My first attempt at jig skirts
I got the jib heads from TW they are 1/2 and 3/4 ounce football jigs and the other are Gambler Ninja flippin jigs. I like the boss footballs, but the ninjas are a little cheap feeling one of the weed guards fell off on one and had to be epoxied back in

Show your best Smallies from last year!!!!
I noticed that you were bank fishing on the New River. If you wouldn't mind divulging you secret spots my roommate and I have been looking for some spots close to Blacksburg to go go small mouth fishing. I understand if they are a secret, because being able to produce fish is important. Thanks

You could send it to me to spool up my flipping/cover setup. That would be the main thing that I use it for.
