Anybody familiar with Lake Norris TN.

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

I'm leaving for a family vacation this weekend for Norris Lake.  Any input on how to catch them out their right now.  I am bringing my bass boat and plan on looking for points to fish along the main channals, but what else can be helpful there.

Thanks,

Deadeye32

Been a long time but be prepared for a clear deep lake. When the stripers are hitting top water it is something to behold. Nothing like 30 and 40 pound fish knocking top water plugs into the air... but I never did well there bass fishing. When I lived in the area my club fished it twice (the club was out of Watts Bar Lake) and I remember smallies and largemouth being weighed in. Again, I never did all that well there... but it is one of the most beautiful lakes you will ever see. It looks a lot like Dale Hollow with steeper banks.

Good luck

Great lake, deep and clear.  Since you're just going to be on vacation, fish the flotsam in the backs of coves with spinners, jigs, and plastics.  Also, fish transitions areas from rock to mud (you'll be able to see it on the bank), especially if it also involves a point, bend, or cove.  Have a rod ready with a spook or similar in case the stripers do start breaking on you, it's ridiculous.  Also, you can fish fortrout below the dam in the Clinch River.  Roostertails or rebel creatures always did me well.  Cast quartering up upstream and work it fast enough to spin the blade or make it wobble.
