deep Florida phosphate pitts

Featured Replies

Anyone fished down deep in Florida phosphate pitts?  20-23 feet what to use down deep what lures work?  Or mid range feet in teens lemme know.

I have fished many of them actually! I work with Mosaic so i kinda have access to some. I have found them in 38ft of water when the heat is up like this. My main techniques have been Carolina rigs with 8" lizards, drop shots with flukes, senkos and worms and deep cranks as well. Rat-L-Traps around cattails work good too at night. I would recommend Tenoroc in Lklnd too.

No way I fish mosaic pitts usually once a week!!!  All fish coming on worms.. I like using worms usually 10 inches plus but can't do much in middle of deep pitts...all of those you said u have had luck in middle down at the bottom?  What kind of weight do you sink the lizards and sinkos?

For C-rigs i use either brass 3/4oz C-Rig weights or Tungsten 1oz flippin' weights. Drop shot i use drop shot weights. It is pretty tough to catch em in those pits due to a massive abundance of forage man! Patience is the key IMO! Big swimbaits have also been the ticket around old dragline spoil piles in deeper water!

Lol thanks a lot a lot man...my dad works for four corners...Don't know if you are anywhere near there but new to forum already have some new stuff to try..thanks.  The connecting pits with railroad tressels stuff like that with spillways..always done damage and 6-11 feet of water but yeah I have fished a lot of fin and feather pitts never found something that works deep.  Mainly south of Mulberry where we go..you may be close to there but i know there are a lot in Ft. Meade and Bartow..but you are for sure close by.

I work at the South Ft Meade plant man! That is the area i mainly fish! Maybe we can hit the pits one day?

Laterz,

Luis

Do you throw a boat in there or fish from shore?

There mainly shore. We had a BAD experience that involved a 20ft bass boat, rain/mud and a D8T dozer that i would rather not recall! Lets just say that it took a while to get the boat out.......................       :-X

We put a boat in..have had trouble getting it out some ramps...I need a 4 wheel drive truck...been lucky to get it out as much as we have w a V6 2 wheel drive truck lol.  I have bank fished in Black Lake and I think that may be it so you usually don't put a boat in?
