Loving the Horny Toads!

Featured Replies

Wind is 25mph right now per NOAA but I managed to snag a few small ones between 7 and 8 tonight on the H' Toads in the creek end of our lake. I hooked or partially hooked and lost about three or four more.

This is really cool and I think it's good practice for T & C-rig's which I am horrible with. I felt a couple of twitches on couple, a few hammered it and a couple just cause a little change in the surface of the water near the bait which sinks slowly as you know.

Green Pumkin Pearl (looks brown to me) and Watermelon Red Pearl are the colors that seem to work on my lake.

I have a feeling this is going to be a real productive summertime technique.

i love horny toads, but i was fishing this last week and the horny toad wasn't producing fish. it was a perfect place for a frog so i tied on a stanley ribbit and it was smacking fish all day. i am going to always be using the stanley ribbits now

Horny toads work well around here too. The early morning frog bait on this lake I know was a blast all summer last year. It's starting to pick up

Utahbasser, I found the same thing out last year with one exception.  Some days the fish like the Horny Toad and some days they like the Stanley Ribbit.  The Horny Toad is a faster bait with a small splashing action.  The Ribbit is a slower bait with a bigger splashing action.  I keep both in my box and try both out.  I usually start with the Horny Toad first.

Both have there time and so does the Rage Tail Toad. It's pretty versatile.
